Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

When you're ready to get started, contact me and we'll discuss your event details and start personalizing your stationary with a FREE consultation!

What is included when I make a purchase?

Your purchase includes a consultation (in person, over the phone, or by email depending on your location and preference), one proof emailed to you for approval, and one round of proof revisions (additional proofs available for $10/piece).

What is the Designing & Printing timeline?

During your consultation, I will be able to give you an estimated timeline of when your project will be completed. Consultations are FREE and you are not required to make a purchase to get a consultation about an order! Each project is different and the estimated time is based on the included proof and one revised proof. Keep in mind additional proofs are sometimes necessary and can add additional length to your project.

What is Hand Canceling?

Hand canceling is a way you can minimize the amount of automated printing and stamping the Post Office adds to your mailings. You know those squiggly lines that appear through a stamp when you receive it in the mail? That means the stamp has been “cancelled” and it was cancelled by a machine. You can no longer use it because it’s been spent! When you hand-cancel your wedding invitations you are either having the postmaster hand stamp each and every stamp on every single envelope, or you are taking the time to do it yourself. This means that your wedding invitation will supposedly not go through a machine, lessening the chance it may get ripped up or destroyed on the way to its specified recipient.

I have heard that true hand-cancelling no longer exists anymore because your envelope, no matter what, will almost always go through a machine at some point during the process, unless it is more than ¼ of an inch thick. If it is more than ¼ of an inch thick, then you would definitely have to pay the extra 21 cents for it to be handled by hand because, at that point, it is classified as non-machinable.

Also, if you are hand-cancelling invitations or save the dates, you are technically supposed to pay an additional 21 cents per envelope for the post master to do this for you. However, some post offices let you do it yourself, which allows you to avoid the cost of this fee… Anyway, it never hurts to ask! If you go to one post office and they won’t let you, simply go down the street to a different one. And always try to go when it is NOT post office rush hour.

Can I purchase digital designs and print with an outside vendor?

Yes! I offer print-ready packages where you can purchase digital designs then print with a local print shop or online vendor. I recommend printing with J. Rae Graphics over outside vendors because printing with me guarantees tremendous service, high-quality printing, and a personal look at your pieces before they head your way.

Should you request a sizing change after your final files have been sent, there will be a fee for an additional sizing revision. It is the responsibility of the customer to provide me with this information because with so many printers out there, we cannot be expected to know the specifications that each printer requires.
